Scientific visualization with COVISE

This two day course is targeted at researchers with basic knowledge in numerical simulation, who would like to learn how to visualize their simulation results on the desktop, but also in Augmented Reality and Virtual Environments.  It will start with a short overview of scientific visualization, following a hands-on introduction to 3D desktop visualization with COVISE.  On the second day, we will discuss how to build interactive 3D Models for Virtual Environments and how to set up an Augmented R

Parallel programming in modern Fortran

Annotation

Fortran remains widely used in high-performance computing (HPC), but most users describe their programming skills as self-taught and most use older language versions. The increasing compiler support for modern Fortran makes the time ripe to teach new language features that target HPC. We will teach single-program, multiple-data (SPMD) programming with Fortran 2008 coarrays.

Zimní škola PRACE 2016 na Slovensku

Po menší přestávce přichází PRACE v rámci své čtvrté implementační fáze PRACE-4IP s dalšímí sezónními školami. První z nich bude PRACE Winter School 2016, kterou budou pořádat kolegové ze Slovenské akademie věd ve dnech 25-28. ledna 2016 v Bratislavě a jež bude zaměřena na HPC v oblasti teorie funkcionálu hustoty (DFT). IT4Innovations je spoluorganizátorem této školy a přispěje k ní m.j. půldenním kurzem programování pro architekturu MIC. Mezi lektory jsou dále prominentní jména z Německa, Švýcarska, Rakouska a USA.

Data volumes are ever growing, for a large application spectrum going from traditional database applications, scientific simulations to emerging applications including Web 2.0 and online social networks. To cope with this added weight of Big Data, we have recently witnessed a paradigm shift in the way data is processed through the MapReduce model.
